Social Appraisal Toolkit

The Social Appraisal Toolkit is

  • innovative

  • on-line

  • designed to make easier the appraisal of the potential social, economic and environmental impact of a project or a business plan

  • available to the single user at £40 + VAT

Developed by the Valuing the Difference team in the North East with funding from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, the Social Appraisal Toolkit is the first web-based tool of its kind to assess the potential social, economic and environmental impacts of an organisation from the start of a project or a new business plan.

The Social Appraisal Toolkit invites the user to carry out an on-line self assessment of governance, social impacts and financial viability. It also helps the user to identify how key social impact data will be captured and reported

The Social Appraisal Toolkit can benefit grant funders and social lenders by improving the quality and completeness of information from applicant organisations about their potential social impact and financial sustainability. It can also be used as part of an on-line application process.

The Social Appraisal Toolkit can benefit individual organisations to present their social, economic and environment benefits in a more systematic way. It helps to identify the additional benefits which differentiate a good project worthy of investment support. It can also be used as a business planning tool.
